PHIVOLCS Warns People About False Earthquake Info On Social Media!

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) warns people that the informations about the earthquake circulating on social media are hoax.

He also issued the warning regarding the posts circulating on social media, including a fake PHIVOLCS Facebook page, which has allegedly predicted the so-called “Big-One,” or a possible magnitude 7.2 earthquake that may hit Metro Manila.

Meanwhile, PHIVOLCS said, “What we do is prepare earthquake scenarios of hazards and impacts to be used as guide for mitigation, preparedness and response.”

They also added, “Hindi po totoo yan. Hindi nahuhulaan kailan darating ang earthquake lalo na kung gaano kalakas. Phivolcs lang po tayo maniwala (It's not true. We cannot predict when an earthquake strikes and how strong it is. Just believe in Phivolcs). Anyway there is no harm to be prepared. Yan nagpakalat ng balita yan (The one who spread the news) is an irresponsible person because it will create panic to our people.”

Make sure that the source is legit before you post or share something on your social media account.
